Support Worker/Advocate

St. Martha’s Hall is seeking a Support Worker/Advocate to work the overnight shift. The position is responsible for providing crisis counseling, information and referral, and advocacy services to women and children in shelter.

Hours are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00pm-7:30am. The wage is $13/hour and includes benefits. It is not a sleeping shift. Related education or experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age, have a car, and valid driver’s license and insurance.

Family Finding Coordinator
Good Shepherd Children & Family Services

Qualifications: The position requires a passion to seek out family connections for children in foster care and to help foster children prepare for permanency. Required skills and abilities include: strong ability to develop rapport with youth and their families; excellent communication skills; ability to lead and coordinate team efforts; creative; flexible; well organized; an understanding of the impact of grief, loss and trauma on children in the child welfare system. Minimum requirements include a Masters Degree in Social Work or related field. Experience with Family Finding and/or the 3-5-7 Model preferred.

Job Description: Primary responsibilities include coordinating family finding and 357 practice within Good Shepherds Residential and Foster Care Programs. This role will include a direct service component combined with management responsibilities as we fully implement these two practices within the agency.

Direct Service activities include conducting family finding for identified children including mining the records; internet searching and family engagement activities; and working one on one with identified youth using the 357 Model.

Management Responsibilities include developing program protocols; coordinating family finding teams within the agency; providing consultation and support to other team members in the implementation of these two models. Conducting ongoing evaluation of the efficacy of the two models. Assist Director in continuing to inform and advance the agency culture related to these two models.

Pay Range: Competitive based on experience

Good Shepherd Children and Family Services
The following positions are available in the Residential Program:

  • Male Unit Supervisor-mostly evenings with some morning shifts
  • Over-Night Full Time Position
  • Various Part Time Positions-all shifts
  • PRN positions-all shifts

Unit supervisors are responsible for all program procedures related to their assigned shift including overall supervision of staff and residents, by ensuring that all units are operating at approved standards and program expectations.

  • Provide supervision for up to 8 Youth Care Workers
  • Oversee daily operations of the program
  • Maintain communication with team to ensure quality services are provided to residents
  • Ensure Structure and Consistency through Leadership

The right candidate must have the passion to work with males and females ages 12-21 and with parenting teen mothers, in a residential treatment setting. Weekend availability required.  This position is responsible for each resident's day to day care.  The interaction between youth care workers and residents require the use of respectful, collaborative, strength-based interventions with the responsibility to maintain the safety of youth through continuous supervision

As a residential youth care worker you must contribute positively to the therapeutic culture of the program by:

•           Ensuring that the units promotes mutual respect, trust, personal safety and security
•           Maximizing relationship building, teachable moments and strength based interactions
•           Promoting positive change, growth and development
•           Role modeling appropriate values and behaviors
•           Providing structure and assisting in goal attainment
•           Providing supervision by always knowing and being where the residents are at all times.

Qualifications for both positions: Must be 21 years old, have a valid driver's license, and be able to pass criminal and child abuse background checks. Must have a Bachelor's degree and must have residential experience. High school graduates/GED with years of paid experience working with at risk youth in residential will be considered for the youth care workers position.  Must also be familiar with DSM diagnoses, goal development and strength based practices.

Part time/PRN positions require at least five shifts per month.
