"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."Luke, 10: 28

The parable of the Good Samaritan begins with this simple question, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?" And so a familiar tale unfolds whereby a man in need is ignored until a Samaritan, the least likely to be of help, stops his journey to save a life.

At the end of the parable, Jesus poses this question to His followers, "Which of these three, in your opinion, was the neighbor to the man who fell victim to robbers?" The answer came, "The one who treated him with compassion." Jesus said, "Then go and do the same." Luke, 10: 37

"Then go and do the same."

The Good Samaritan Guild was created with this directive in mind. Members of the Guild are people of compassion, demonstrating their love of neighbor through generous stewardship and helping those who need help most?the impoverished, the afflicted and the abandoned.

We Appreciate Those Who Help

Only one in five individuals who leave a bequest in his or her Will or Trust will notify Catholic Charities of his or her intentions. Catholic Charities has established the Good Samaritan Guild to recognize donors for their annual contributions, bequest expectancies or for their irrevocable lifetime gifts.

The Good Samaritan Guild recognition program can multiply a gift's impact by encouraging other people to give. Donors who at first decline public recognition often appreciate a little extra encouragement.

We ask that you let Catholic Charities know about your intended gift so that suitable public recognition can be explored. You need not disclose the amount of your gift. If your desire is to have no public attention brought to your gift, please tell us about your intent anyway. We will respect your wishes and enroll you in the Guild.

Donor Acknowledgement and Recognition

Good Samaritan Guild members play a vital role in funding the programs managed by Catholic Charities. As a Good Samaritan Guild member, you will be remembered in a monthly Mass said for your intentions. Your name will be inscribed as a member at Catholic Charities headquarters. You will be honored with a listing in our Annual Report and on this website. You will be recognized in our quarterly newsletter. And an attractive membership certificate will be sent to you acknowledging your membership.

You can become a Good Samaritan Guild member by making an annual contribution starting at $500, or by notifying Catholic Charities of your bequest intentions, or for your irrevocable lifetime gift. Sign up to be a Good Samaritan Guild member.
