ST. LOUIS — Two weeks after devastating tornadoes tore through the region, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis remains on the ground every day, providing critical assistance to individuals and families affected by the disaster.
Working in close coordination with the City of St. Louis at the on-site command center, Catholic Charities staff and volunteers are ensuring that those impacted receive food, supplies, and direct support. To date, more than 2,500 requests for assistance have been submitted through the Catholic Charities website, and every single person is being contacted by a trained volunteer through a newly established call center.
“This is what Catholic Charities does best — we respond quickly, we stay present, and we walk with people for as long as it takes,” said Dr. Jared Bryson, President of Catholic Charities of St. Louis. “We are deeply grateful for the support from across the region that is making our response possible.”
Among the outpouring of community generosity, Catholic Charities received a $100,000 contribution from Medica, a significant show of support that will help the organization meet immediate needs and build long-term recovery efforts. Donations continue to come in from individuals, businesses, and churches throughout St. Louis who trust that Catholic Charities will be present long after the headlines fade.
Catholic Charities’ ongoing presence has been highlighted in recent media coverage, including segments on Fox 2 News, Good Day St. Louis, and Show Me St. Louis, showing the hands-on work happening in neighborhoods most affected by the storm.
“We’re not just responding to this crisis, we’re building relationships and offering lasting care,” said Dr. Bryson. “That’s what it means to be part of this community, and that’s what Catholic Charities will continue to do. Providing the healing, help, and hope to those in need.”
