Youth Opportunity Tax Credit Increase Headed to Governor
HB 737, sponsored by Rep. Melissa Schmidt (R-Eldridge), was truly agreed and finally passed this week by the Missouri Senate, sending the bill to the Governor for his review. It includes language that increases the state tax credit available under the Youth Opportunity Program from 50% to 70% for donations made to organizations that broaden and strengthen opportunities for youth, helping to protect them from crime and violence. These credits are used by Marygrove, St. Louis Counseling, and St. Francis Community Services, all ministries of Catholic Charities.
Missouri Senate Completes Work on State Budget
The Missouri Senate completed its work on the state budget this week, setting the stage for negotiations with the House over budget priorities. Next week the two bodies will meet in conference committees on the various budget bills before each voting out a final budget by the end of the week, Friday being the Constitutional deadline.
